Başak ÇOBAN is a MSc student at Bioengineering Department, Izmir Institute of Technology. She received her BSc degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics in 2018 from Gebze Technical University. 
She studied on the cellular localization of CCDC124 protein in under different stress condition which are disulphide stress, oxidative stress and generate c-Jun stable cell line with Hela cells and used laboratory techniques including cell culture, preparation of stress agents, immunofluorescence and Western Blot, in order to understand CCDC124 and c-Jun interaction, Co-IP technique, under supervision of Professor Uygar Halis Tazebay, in Gebze Technical University. She focused on the investigation of uncharacterized AS2 gene in human cells and zebrafish; Cloning of hAS2 gRNAs into lentivirus transfer plasmid and testing the constructs in transfected HEK293T cells by T7 endonuclease assay, Zebrafish genotyping for identification of AS2 wild-type, heterozygous and homozygous knockout individuals for further functional studies, Cloning of the zebrafish AS2 protein-coding region into pIRES-EGFP plasmid and investigating its localization in transfected HEK293T cells by immunofluorescence staining under supervision of Dr. Caghan Kizil, in German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases.
Currently, she is a member of Biomimetics Group and working on the development of polymeric materials for formation of 3D cell culture model.
