Tuğba Firik is MSc student at Bioengineering Department, Izmir Institute of
Technology. She received her BSc degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics in
2018 from Izmir Institute of Technology. She focused on understanding how non-
coding RNAs regulate apoptosis, cell motility and proliferation in human cell lines
(HeLa and Jurkat cell lines) in Akgül Lab. Also she focused on next generation
sequencing techniques in the genetic diagnostics of several inherited disorders
and she studied in cytogenetic analysis, Microarray and Prenatal cell-free DNA
screening laboratory in İzmir Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi Tepecik Eğitim ve
Araştırma Hastanesi
Currently, she is a member of Biomimetics Group and working on the 3D cell
culture model by using electrospun polymer to mimic human intestine system.
